Grass Fed Doesn't Mean Grass Fed - Organic Beef
The USDA is proposing a standard on grass fed meats, basically stating that grass fed animals don't have to be pastured to carry the name "Grass Fed". In defining the standard, grass fed animals will also be allowed to consume surplus harvested crops. This seems to undermine the grass fed program and grass fed farmers aren't too happy about it. Many cited the proposal as being unacceptable, too lax and misleading. The livestock and meat industry, in the onset, supported the idea of grass fed marketing claim.
